** We have been training hard over the past few months here at Khamala, not only do we pride ourselves with our dogs herding abilities, obedience work and dock diving adventures, but now we are expanding the TM's fun time with dog sledding.
Its not easy with this breed, but none of the things we have tried with the dogs has been easy. Had we wanted easy we would have got an "easy" breed. You can read our dog sledding adventures in training and working at becoming a sled team at http://havedogswillsled.blogspot.com/ And remember, the more you put into your dogs regardless the breed, the more success you will have with them!
** We have decided to cancel this years breeding plans. As much as we are looking forward to expanding and improving our lines we did not feel it was the right time to add another pup to our home. Our plans for this years breeding will be carried out next year. We thank the few on our waiting list who are willing to wait another year for their patience and understanding and we would like to encourage anyone who would be interested in a puppy to contact us as soon as possible to begin the interview process and secure your spot on our wait list.
** After a wonderful morning herding, we came home with 3 Tibetan Mastiffs who have earned their Herding Instinct Certificate. All 3 of them have their own styles of herding but did very well. Tibby is the dog who is constantly suprising me. She worked the the sheep very quietly and with confidence. It seems no matter what I throw her way she takes to it like she has done it a thousand times before. Very proud of all 3 of them and look forward to expanding the sport horizon for them all. Good job today guys :o)
** Karmas first show went great, she showed really well, by the end of it she was showing like a pro (too bad her handler was not) We both had a great time and are looking forward to this years circuit. Stay tuned. Pictures of Karmas BOB win can be seen on her page.
** Show season is starting!!!! Karma will be entered in her first show on March 25th 2011. We are hoping for a fun time together as I have decided to handle myself. This is a first for both of us.
**Karma has started tracking classes which was only intended on being something fun to do with the dogs, however she is showing some great talent as a tracking dog (for now) and we are anxious to see how the next 3 weeks go for her. Also her obedience training is going very well and we are planning on competing this fall after a few more private lessons.
** Marvel is fitting in well here at Khamala and he is showing a LOT of potential. He is a very sweet young boy who has mastered house training and even some very basic obedience.
** Our very special boy Diesel has finally caught his flight to Hong Kong to meet his new family. We have been told he has arrived and now anxiously await to hear from his family. We wish Diesel all the best and will miss him dearly.
** We are entertaining the idea of adding a forum to our website for all families who have a Khamala dog to get together and share about them. Also this could be a great place for general FAQ's
** Congratulations to Karma for her 2010 CERF clearance. The opthamologist was very pleased with her eyes over all.
** Great news here at Khamala this evening. A breeding we have been anxiously awaiting was confirmed by ultrasound. Our next member of the Khamala family should be born mid February. We are so excited to hear the great news.
** The puppies have been given a clean bill of health from their vet and have had their check up, deworming and first vaccinations. Everyone did very well on the trip in and back and behaved like little inquisitive bear cubs in the exam room. There was plenty of giggles from the vet and the vet tech due to the various grunts and grumbles the pups made while being weighed and having their hearts and lungs listened to. Some of the pups are packing up their stuff and getting ready to meet their new families.
** Now 6 weeks old the puppies are spending some time outdoors in the pen with Karma on the warmer winter days. The puppies all had a blast in the snow the first time out and enjoyed running and playing.
This friday everyone is heading for a trip to vets to get an accurate weigh in as well as a thorough check over.
** At 4 weeks old the puppies are now wrestling and getting more adventurous. Evening explorations have taken them from their bedroom in the basement to such fun places as the laundry room and rec room, possible plans to explore the bathroom may be in the works but have not taken place at this time.
This week the puppies have met the cats. We cant say that the cats are thrilled with their new house buddies but so far everything is going smoothly.
Feeding times are so much fun to be part of, watching 9 puppies rotating around the food dishes is quite amusing and quite messy.
** 3 weeks old now and moving around good. The pups had their first introduction to food other than moms milk and loved it. What a treat watching them explore and learn. Each pup is developing their own "personalities" now.
** Almost 2 weeks old now and Titan has decided it is time to see the world. His eyes have opened and now the rest of the litter should follow. Everyone is doing amazing, mom included.
** The pups are now 4 days old and are all doing very well. They have steady weight gain and healthy appetites.
** At 8:34 am November 20th puppy number one made his grand entrance to our world and made his presence known. As of 4:30 pm, our count is 9, 7 males and 2 females, with a good mix of black and black and tan. Check the puppy page for updates and photos.
Congratulations Karma
** The puppies are moving around much more now, making mom a bit uncomfortable, The count down is on, its almost time to meet them
**Puppies have been confirmed by ultrasound, Anxiously awaiting their arrival sometime around November 22!
**Karma is awaiting her ultrasound set for October 26th at 1:00 pm, everyone at Khamala is anxious for the results !
