I would like to take the opportunity to answer many of our frequently asked questions on this page. It is quite a long read but we encourage anyone who is seriously considering a Khamala puppy to take the time and read the following:

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to send us an email.

COST:

I wish to address the cost of a Tibetan Mastiff puppy from Khamala here as many people are often suprised by the price of these magnificant dogs.

At Khamala our puppy prices are $2000 CDN.

ALL of our pups are out of health tested parents which includes CERF, Hip and Elbow Displaysia (OVC or OFA) and Thyroid. Also DNA testing for AKC registration. No dog at Khamala Tibetan Mastiffs will be bred prior to 2 years of age.

Once you take into consideration the cost of these tests as well as the fact there are very few of these incredible dogs in this country and that responsibly breeding them is a bit more of a challenge than with other breeds you will find that the price of a Khamala puppy is very reasonable.

We also have a disadvantage to costs for many things due to our location, we do not have the advantage of "clinics" that go around to vets in Southern Ontario which gives discounted rates for many of the tests.  Regardless our prices are comparable to others who have access to clinics.

Khamala puppies leave for their new homes no sooner than 9 weeks of age with their first set of vaccinations ( as required if leaving the country) vet checked, dew claws removed and will be dewormed.

Each puppy will also leave with a puppy package containing valuable information for the health and well being of a Tibetan Mastiff as well as personal information of each puppy and photo's of them growing up here.

We also offer LIFETIME breeder support, we will be there to help answer any question you may have for the lifetime of your Khamala puppy, we love hearing about how our dogs are doing and getting updates on them through out their lives.

Khamala also stands behind our no fuss return policy. We NEVER want to see a puppy we have bred in a shelter taking the place of a dog who needs that resource. They always will have a place here.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

-All of our puppies are sold on Non Breeding Contracts and are to be spayed and neutered by a certain age which is discussed further in depth in our contract.

-Those interested in a puppy for show or breeding will be sold a puppy on a co ownership. We do NOT have a seperate price for "Breeding Rights" nor would we let a puppy go with full breeding rights. This is done to ensure that any puppies produced out of a Khamala dog will be bred with the same standard for health and temperament as we abide by here.

-No Khamala puppy will be sold to a home with out a securely fenced in yard. Nor will we place dogs into appartments or condo's.

-A Khamala puppy will not be left on a tie out unattended at any time under any circumstance. This is for both the safety of our dogs  and other dogs/children/ people who may wander up to them.

-We DO NOT breed by demand or every year. It is recommended that those who are serious about a Khamala puppy contact us and get on our waiting list as soon as possible. We do not place puppies on a " first come, first served" basis as we want to ensure we match the best possible puppy to the best possible homes. At Khamala we only breed when we are looking to keep something for ourselves from our program. We do not breed for the sake of producing puppies. There will always be a purpose behind each and every litter we plan, if you would like to know why we are choosing a pairing or a breeding or what we hope(d) to achieve from a future or past litter feel free to ask, we are always willing to discuss our dogs and our future goals.

- Our first litter was a huge learning experience for us at Khamala, and we will be registering our litters with BOTH the CKC and the AKC from now on. I must express my deepest thanks to all the owners or our first  litter pups who were so patient with us as we got their paperwork in order. Thank you all again

SHIPPING:

- We will ship our puppies at the expense of the new owner. All our puppies will be flown out of Toronto's Pearson Airport which is a 4 hour drive for us, so we understandably would prefer to book as many  puppies for the same day as possible to reduce costs for everyone involved. We do not mind one bit, hanging out at the Air Canada Cargo bay all day long to reduce the amount of time our pups have to spend in a crate while waiting for flights.

-To have your puppy shipped the extra costs is usually approximately $500 CDN depending on the size of crate needed and distance the puppy is going. We prefer flying our pups on direct flights to reduce crate time in different airports. If we are making a 4 hour drive, and lost wages from work, to get your puppy to you with the least amount of stress possible, we hope you are willing to make similar arraingements for the best interest of the puppy.

-Temperatures must be considered when shipping puppies, we will not place a puppy on a plane when the temperatures are 25 degrees celcius or higher, our last litter only one puppy was held back for this reason but was placed on an earlier flight for the next day. We can not control the weather unfortunately and hope you understand why we take this very seriously.

-Any long distance flights with long lay overs, we are willing accompany your puppy to you. However our return airfare will be added into the cost of shipping. Another alternative to this is using a shipping company that we have pre-approved. We had an excellent experience with one company when we worked with the future owner of one of our last pups who made his way all the way to Hong Kong. For more information about this please contact us to further discuss this option.
