Khamala is situated on a beautiful 12.5 acre slice of heaven in Northern Ontario Canada.

We are the Ackerland/Fortin family, consisting of myself, my partner, our 2 non Tibetan Mastiff dogs, 3 cats, 2 horses and of course our Tibetan Mastiff girl.

Both my partner and I had been very active in rescue for several years.

We always had ( and always will have) a soft spot for the "un adoptable" dogs. We agreed to foster several of these dogs all of which quickly became permanent residents. We couldn't bear to see these wonderful old souls move on to other homes when they just seemed to fit in so well here.

We never had them long enough as they were elderly upon arrival. Regardless how long they were here, they filled our lives and home with such joy and memories.

It had always been my dream to own a Tibetan Mastiff and that dream finally came true in December of 2007 when Lyse and Bill of Stormnangels arrived at our house after much anticipation with our sweet bundle of fur, who was quickly named Karma. I can not begin to express my thanks to Lyse for entrusting me with such a magnificent girl. I don't think there will ever be another TM that could match her in our eyes.

Karma taught me a great deal about researching breeds. I had done the world of research on TM's and was ready for what ever Karma may throw at me…or so I thought.

Turns out Karma did not read the TM manual as thoroughly as I did, she was nothing like I what I had expected. She turned out to be so much more. I look forward to many more years learning from Karma who truly is her own free spirit and does things on her own time.

Here at Khamala we strongly believe in breeding for health, temperament and type.  As members in good standing with the Canadian Kennel Club we also adhere to the TBRN code of ethics which can be viewed here.

TBRN COE

Karma has been evaluated for all breed specific health concerns prior to being considered for breeding. All of our pets are fed a natural  (raw) diet and we could not be more pleased with the results.

All of our dogs are members of our family, we do not go many places with out them and they all have their very own corners in our bedroom at night. During the summer months we try to make up for long days away from the home with trips to our cottage for some much needed play and swim time check our photo albums for some great snap shots.

We invite you to look around our site, it is a work in progress so be sure to check back often. We are constantly learning from all our animals, especially our Tibetan Mastiff.

Enjoy your visit.
